Woolgoolga Beach to Host Inflatable Rescue Boats Championships

Inflatable Rescue BoatWoolgoolga Beach will be hosting the Inflatable Rescue Boats (IRB) Championships this weekend.

Eight divisions will compete and 340 participants from 25 inflatable boat rescue clubs will go head to head.

NSW surf sports manager Chris Parker had this to say about the event:

“Some great action-packed racing is expected, with moderate south-westerly winds and four- to five-foot waves building into the afternoon.

The skills and experience our IRB crews get from this sort of competition is vital for use in real-life rescue situations. Overall, the visit to Woolgoolga will be a great lead-in to the final round of the IRB premiership series in Terrigal on June 25.”

Last year at the 2010 championships, Caves Beach won the competition, ahead of Kiama Downs, and Thirroul.
